La Trobe University

La Trobe University is proud to be the official Learning Partner of the National Gallery of Victoria's (NGV) summer exhibition, Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei.

As a university that aspires to 'be the difference', we love bold ideas that push the boundaries and tackle the big issues of our time, and we believe that the arts are the perfect platform for exploring social, cultural and political themes.

We recognised these values in the NGV, and have partnered with them for the past two years to present the summer exhibitions Melbourne Now (2013/2014) and Jean Paul Gaultier (2014/2015).

We've teamed up with the NGV again in 2016 as the official Learning Partner of NGV's blockbuster exhibition, Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwe.

Over the course of the exhibition, we'll host a series of for Friday Nights at NGV, when you can enjoy after-hours access to the exhibition along with live music and dining. During these, La Trobe experts will discuss topics that shed light on the practices and influences of Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei.

Explore how your brain sees art with our pop-up interactive  installation. While you look at a selection of works from the exhibition, we'll  measure your brainwaves and create 'thoughtographs'. The result is a  unique depiction of how your mind responded to the different artworks.

La Trobe students have privileged access to our summer subject, . Over six days in February, enrolled students will explore themes including the artist persona; art and activism; fame, celebrity and the media; and cities in artwork (focusing on New York and Beijing).

We will also be running a series based on the Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei exhibition, covering topics such as censorship in art, activism, and thoughtography, on our .
